Steve McCrosky, Medical Director for JumpSTART Telemedicine and Distance Learning shares his experience on how to make the patient/provider telemedicine experience more engaging and productive for both practitioners and client.
Steve has been seeing patients via telemedicine since 2009, and has much to share for new teleproviders as well as those who have been doing it for a while now.
Session participants will learn techniques and strategies to improve care and help patients to feel more comfortable during video visits.
The focus will be on “webside manner” for telemedicine, room setup, and equipment usage. The presentation will be around 30 minutes with the remainder of the time open for Q&A.

About Steve McCrosky:
Steve McCrosky is a nurse practitioner, HIV specialist, and telemedicine consultant. For over 30 years he has dedicated himself to working for disenfranchised populations. He has extensive experience using informatics, telemedicine, and electronic health records to improve the care of people in rural areas living with HIV. Steve also enjoys educating health professionals and students about HIV, nursing, and telemedicine.
Steve received his Master of Science in Nursing from University of California San Francisco and is certified as an HIV specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM). He is the winner of the 2014 AAHIVM/ Institute for Technology in Health Care HIV Practice Award for the development of an innovative HIV telehealth program.
Currently living in Basel, Switzerland, Steve has lectured and provided consultation for programs in North America, Europe, and Africa. He lives with his wife and two daughters and enjoys mountain biking, Ultimate Frisbee, Indian cooking, and building low-tech medical devices.
